PREPAREDNESS TRAINING: The City of Lockport will offer a free Red Cross citizen preparedness training program, “What to Do When Disaster Strikes,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Lockport City Hall, One Locks Plaza. A speaker from the American Red Cross will present an hour-long session that will provide information on how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and man-made disasters. There also will be refreshments and prizes for attendees.
KIDS CAVITY FREE HEALTH FAIR: Holy Cross Head Start, in conjunction with the Erie County Cavity Free Kids Team and other health community agencies in Erie County, have scheduled a Cavity Free Kids Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in the gym at the Northwest Buffalo Community Center, 155 Lawn Ave. The program will provide oral health education through dental experiments, free dental screenings, taste testing of healthy food choices along with healthy recipe ideas to help fight obesity. Holy Cross Head Start families as well as anyone from the community is invited. HEAP WORKSHOP: A Home Energy Assistance Program or HEAP workshop is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Pratt Willert Center, 422 Pratt St. Applicants are requested to bring the following documentation: One form of identification for all household members; proof of income received within the last 30 days and current heat and electric bills. M&T CONCERT SERIES: Christina Courtin, a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter living in Brooklyn, will perform at this month’s M&T Concert Series, from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Recital Hall, on the Villa Maria College campus, 240 Pine Ridge Road. The concerts are free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
