St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a terrific celebration
With St. Patrick’s Day quickly approaching, I’d like to express how lucky Buffalo is to have such an amazing St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Every year the organizers of the parade do such a great job and the people on Delaware Avenue really do take notice. Each March the parade route is filled with tens of thousands of people who are proud to celebrate the city’s great Irish heritage. Bystanders can also reflect on how far the Irish have come throughout their history here in the city, from only being allowed to celebrate in their own community to now celebrating on the major streets of Buffalo.
The parade also does a great job keeping a focus on Irish history and tradition, highlighting Irish groups like the bagpipers, the Irish clubs and the many Irish dance organizations, as well as new groups each year.
I hope the residents of Western New York realize how lucky we are to have this tremendous celebration and I applaud city officials, leaders and organizers for continuing to do amazing work so that future generations can continue to enjoy our wonderful Irish heritage. See you on Delaware Avenue on March 20.
