Ellicottville Winter Carnival and Mardi Gras Weekend come to ski resort village

ELLICOTTVILLE – Fat Tuesday officially took place a month ago and the weather feels like spring, but that won’t stop this ski resort village from celebrating Ellicottville Winter Carnival and Mardi Gras Weekend.

It kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with the Junior Bacchus Ball in the Ellicottville Brewing Co., 28-30 Monroe St. Tickets are $20, carnival attire is encouraged and food offerings include a muffaletta slider station, mini swordfish kabobs and traditional King Cake for dessert. Former TV news reporter Melanie Pritchard will emcee a pageant that will chose a king and queen for the weekend.

Festivities will move to Holiday Valley ski area Saturday and Sunday, where there will be live music, a cookout from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, a ski patrol pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday, children’s activities and snow sports competitions, conditions permitting. A parade of floats and walking groups will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Washington Street, ending at Village Hall.
