Where we live: Cheektowaga

Students at John F. Kennedy High School this weekend present their spring musical, “The Pajama Game.”

Based on the Richard Bissell novel “7 1/2 Cents,” the story revolves around labor problems in a pajama factory, where the workers are about to go on strike for a 7 1/2 cent raise.

During the labor strife, a love affair blossoms between the new factory superintendent and the head of the grievance committee.

Performances in the high school’s Greenauer Auditorium, 305 Cayuga Creek Road, Cheektowaga, are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. March 13.

General admission tickets are $8 for seniors and $5 for students with valid identification.

This week:

• The Town Board meets at 6:45 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 3301 Broadway.

• The Cheektowaga-Sloan School Board meeting that had been scheduled for March 15 has been rescheduled to this Monday. The meeting will take place in the Irma Czubaj Board of Education Room at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School beginning at 6:30 p.m.
