LOCKPORT – Christopher Butler, a former Army officer, joined the Niagara County Veterans Service Office last week.
Butler, who left the service in 2002, is a former director of life and social skills at the Gersh Experience in North Tonawanda, and also spent several years teaching life skills at Venture Forthe Home Care Services in Niagara Falls.
“It’s a privilege to be able to serve those who’ve given to our community, who served their nation honorably and deserve to know that we haven’t forgotten them,” Butler said. Veterans Service is part of the Niagara County Clerk’s Office, and Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski said improving veterans services had been one of his campaign goals.
Veterans Services Director Nina Cabrera said Butler’s hiring will help make the agency more accessible while meeting demand for services brought on by ongoing U.S. military missions.
Butler will work in the veterans service office at 111 Main St. in Lockport, where counseling is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by calling 438-4090.
