Construction worker seriously injured in fall from roof of barn

SOMERSET – A 27-year-old construction worker suffered a serious leg injury Thursday evening when he fell 25 to 30 feet from the roof of a barn on Hartland Road, Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Micah Yoder was working for Ontario Shores Construction Co. of Medina when the fall occurred about 5 p.m. at 1151 Hartland, authorities said. Deputies said Yoder was removing roofing from a barn and was not using a safety harness when he fell to the ground, landing on his feet.

Knocked unconscious by the impact, he suffered what emergency crews described as a “lower leg deformity.” A crew from the Barker Fire Company revived Yoder, who was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight.
