Man takes plea deal in beating of Falls woman

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who beat up a woman twice on consecutive days took a plea offer Thursday in Niagara County Court, and will serve somewhere between three and five years in state prison.

Judge Sara Sheldon will make the call April 28 in the case of Jerry A. Austin Jr., 35, of Greenview Terrace, who admitted to second-degree assault for a Sept. 16 incident in which he broke the woman’s nose and inflicted a possible concussion by slamming her head against the windshield of a car. A witness on a motorcycle told police he saw the woman tumble out of the car.

In the plea deal, prosecutors agreed not to seek further charges against Austin for attacking the same victim with a baseball bat the previous day.
