A Lackawanna man died in a fire that started in his trailer at 23 Van Wyck St. late Thursday morning, Lackawanna city and fire officials said.
He was identified as Angelo Rentas, 67, who lived alone at that address, according to police.
The fire was reported just before 11:30 a.m.
Rentas was found dead at the scene. No other people are believed to have been injured in the fire.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation by Lackawanna police and the Erie County Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Unit.
Lackawanna police say Rentas was suspected of starting a fire in 2012 when he was residing in a senior housing apartment at 600 Ridge Road. At the time, he was suspected of starting the fire with stick matches and lighter fluid, police said. The outcome of that investigation was immediately unavailable.
