A 2 1/2-story frame house at 139 Louisiana Street that is apparently was occupied by transients suffered $65,000 damage in a fire Thursday night.
Buffalo Fire commanders reported finding no occupants of the house present when crews arrived about 8:10 p.m. The fire, which began on the first floor and spread through a wall to the second floor, was reported “under control” at 8:33 p.m. but fire crews remained to deal with fire in a wall. Overhaul and cleanup at the scene continued until after 9 p.m. Damage to the building was listed at $45,000 and $20,000 to contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
