Gioia to speak at D’Youville’s annual honors convocation

Robert Gioia, president of the John R. Oishei Foundation, will be the featured speaker as D’Youville College holds its 57th honors convocation at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kleinhans Music Hall. More than 700 faculty, staff, students and their families are expected to attend.

College President Sister Denise A. Roche will confer the honors and awards, including the college’s highest honor, the D’Youville Medal, which is given to a student of outstanding character, service and academic achievement. The Grey Nun Medal will be given to a graduate student with similar achievements.

Students will be recognized for inclusion on the Dean’s List, Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities, and membership in the Lambda Sigma Honor Society and the National Adult Honor Society. Student speaker will be Micaela Fasanello, a 2013 D’Youville nursing graduate who recently completed her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner.
