Amherst woman saved from drug overdose outside Cheektowaga court

An Amherst woman overdosed in a car outside the Cheektowaga police and court building Wednesday but was revived with Narcan, police reported.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m., Assistant Cheektowaga Police Chief James Speyer said.

A call to 911 notified police of the 26-year-old woman slumped over in her car. She had been in court earlier, paying a traffic ticket, Speyer said.

Police Officer Lenore Kukoleca, on her first day assigned to town court, ran outside and administered a dose of Narcan.

An ambulance crew from Rural/Metro arrived and administered a second dose, which revived the woman, Speyer said.

Needles were found inside the vehicle.

The same young woman was found overdosed in a Cheektowaga home in November, he said.
