Man charged with stealing motorcycle and riding it to Texas

LOCKPORT – Daniel J. Harmon, who allegedly made off with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle from a North Tonawanda dealership and rode it to Texas, was allowed to act as his own attorney and pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Niagara County Court.

Harmon, 56, of Nassau Avenue, Kenmore, was extradited from Texas after being indicted on a charge of third-degree grand larceny.

Assistant District Attorney Kevin D. Canali said Harmon allegedly visited American Harley-Davidson on Erie Avenue in North Tonawanda Sept. 24, took a motorcycle for a test drive and never returned. The cycle was recovered when Harmon was arrested in Texas about two months later.

Harmon is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
