Friendship man remains jailed in Belmont

BELMONT – A 33-year-old Friendship man who tried to run away from Allegany County sheriff deputies after he was pulled over on a traffic stop remained in custody at the Allegany County Jail here Tuesday, officials confirmed. Terry J. Burdick faces further proceedings in Friendship Town Court on second-degree assault, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest last Wednesday. Sheriff Ricky L. Whitney Tuesday said Burdick, after being directed to the Arrow Mart parking lot in Friendship on a traffic stop, tried to run away but was quickly captured. One of the deputies suffered minor injuries during the brief charge, the sheriff said. Burdick’s car was towed from the parking lot and he is being held in jail in lieu of $2500 cash bail or a $5000 bail bond, according to the sheriff.
