Falls gas station fined for selling cigarettes to minor

NIAGARA FALLS – The Niagara County Health Department has fined the operators of a Gulf Express convenience store and gas station $1,100 for selling cigarettes to a minor.

The Board of Health ratified the fine last week, which was recommended by hearing officer Thomas Zona following a Feb. 1 hearing at the Health Department. Two department workers conducted a compliance check Sept. 22 at the station, located at 2221 Hyde Park Blvd., and found a cashier sold cigarettes without asking for the teenager’s identification or proof of age.
