A Community Hope Night to help people who are struggling with drug additions and their loved ones is planned by a number of organization and the Depew Police Department for March 16 at the Centerpointe Church, 56 Burlington Avenue in Depew.
The police department and officials of Kids Escaping Drugs, Horizon Health Services, People Against Trafficking Humans, Inc. and the Restoration Church of Amherst hope to attract up to 200 people. The event is slated to run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. that night.
The continuing “epidemic” of drug overdoses locally will be a major topic during the session. Joe Kwiatkowski, recovery pastor at Restoration Church, said that “while it’s really natural and right to have a healthy fear of this epidemic there’s hope through education, prevention, awareness and through walking together” to deal with the ongoing drug crisis.
