Portageville man arrested for driving drugged

WARSAW – A 28-year-old Portageville man whose driver’s license was suspended because of an earlier incident was stopped Friday by sheriff’s deputies while he was driving on Buffalo Road near State Route 19.

Michael J. Mead was found to have prescription narcotic drugs in his car, and he failed field sobriety tests. Sgt. Colin Reagan said Deputy Aaron Chase, who is a certified State Drug Recognition Expert, confirmed Mead was impaired by a number of drugs. He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle in violation of restrictions and driver’s view obstructed. He was released and ordered to appear March 14 in Warsaw Town Court.
