Man killed, woman critically injured as SUV hits parked car, tree on Mendola in Buffalo

A 26-year-old Lancaster man was killed and a 28-year-old Cheektowaga woman critically injured when an SUV crashed into a parked car and then a tree Monday afternoon on Mendola Avenue, Buffalo police said.

The SUV was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, but police Tuesday afternoon still had not determined who was driving.

The injured woman was taken to Erie County Medical Center where she was in critical condition. Police have not released the names.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call the Buffalo police confidential tipline at 847-2255.
