HOLMES - Rose M. (Carini)
It is with great sadness that the Holmes family shares the news that Rose Holmes passed away on
February 17, 2016 at the age of 89. Rose was the beloved matriarch of Wallenwein's Hotel, a tavern in East Aurora, New York that she bought with her husband, Walter Holmes, in 1970. For over 45 years she was a central part of this family run business,
touching lives throughout the
community. Rose lived a rich life that was filled with many family and friends. She adored movies, music, gardening, her cottage on Conesus Lake and perhaps most of all sharing meals, be it at restaurants or at her kitchen table, with those she loved. Rose is survived by her daughter Deborah Grew (David Slosson "Doc"); her son Walter Holmes ("Stubby"); her granddaughter Tabitha Holmes and her husband Chirakkal Easwaran ("Ish"); her granddaughter Stacey Holmes; her grandson Lance Holmes; and her great-grandchildren, Zoe and Max Boon. Rose requested that there be no public service held in her honor; she preferred for people to celebrate her life privately. Arrangements by COMFORT FUNERAL HOME, Inc. Donations can be made in her name to Hospice of Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14227. Words cannot convey how much Rose will be missed; she will never ever be forgotten. Condolences and special memories can be shared
with Rose's family at:
