McMAHON, James

McMAHON - James B. Beloved husband, father, brother, died February 14, 2016. Born in South Buffalo, NY, Jim was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and received his PhD from University of Texas in Austin. He was professor of German Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, specializing in medieval languages, literature, and music. After retirement, Jim moved to Arizona, where he found many ways to continue his lifelong love of music. He formed a recorder ensemble, played baritone horn with two bands, and was a member of the Chamber Music Society. Jim was 78 years old. He is survived by his wife, Ann; their sons, Christopher, Mark and Stephen; and grandchild, Sophia. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Eileen, and two sisters remain, Ann McMahon and Joan Fridmann.
