Dolores Smith, a retired medical office manager, died Thursday in Absolut Care Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was 86.
A lifelong Buffalo resident, Mrs. Smith was a 1947 graduate of South Park High School, where she received academic and athletic honors. The first of her family to attend college, she graduated from D’Youville College with a bachelor of science degree.
The former Dolores Simoncelli wed John M. Smith Jr. in 1955 and they raised three children. He predeceased her after 51 years of marriage.
Mrs. Smith managed several medical offices in West Seneca throughout her career, and retired in 1997 from Surgical Associates of WNY.
She enjoyed dancing and bowling, and was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan.
She is survived by a daughter, Mariann; two sons, J. Matthew and Joseph; two brothers, Raymond and Robert; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. April 23 in Christ the King Chapel, Canisius College, 2001 Main St., with a reception to follow.
