Letter: Jobs lost to Mexico have moved to Asia

Jobs lost to Mexico have moved to Asia

The Lisa Benson editorial cartoon in the Feb. 21 News, showing jobs being exported to Mexico, is just a few years too late. Where was Benson in 1993 when NAFTA was ratified by Congress? Maybe she should have put a picture of President Bill Clinton with a big smile on his face.

Someone should also inform Benson that all those American jobs that went to Mexico are now in China. When the Trans-Pacific Partnership takes effect, those jobs will leave China and go to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim nations. That is where the cheapest labor will be found.
