Police: Tonawanda ‘shoplifting spree’ was to garner goods to resell in Buffalo delis

A woman and man from Buffalo stepped off Metro Bus 25 at Main and Niagara streets in the City of Tonawanda on Wednesday and started a “shoplifting spree,” according to police.

Constance V. Walker and James E. Mills stuffed hundreds of dollars in merchandise from two dollar stores into their backpacks and pockets, City of Tonawanda police reported Thursday.

The pair, both of Urban Street, had dozens of tubes of toothpaste, sticks of deodorant, razors, canned food and candy.

But the items weren’t for them.

They told police they were going to resell them to delis in Buffalo.

Walker, 51, and Mills, 54, were each charged with two counts of petit larceny. Mills also was charged with false personation for giving officers a false name, and he had an outstanding warrant out of Lackawanna.
