North Tonawanda galleries to spotlight local artists during March

NORTH TONAWANDA – Local artists will be exhibited during March at Carnegie Art Center, 240 Goundry St. and Project 308 Gallery, 308 Oliver St.

The spotlight will be on North Tonawanda students at Carnegie Art Center, which has scheduled an opening reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Student art will be on display until March 26. Also, North Tonawanda art teachers will welcome young student artists during Family Art Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 15 in the Carnegie. Kindergartners through sixth-graders will learn a variety of art techniques.

Art classes are also part of a gallery event at 308 Gallery.“Identities of Today: Portraits of WNY” will open with a reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday and will continue through March 31. The gallery is open from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and by appointment at 523-0068.

The 308 Gallery also will offer “Creating a Likeness: Portrait Techniques” with Julia Douglas from 3 to 5 p.m. March 12 and 19. The class is $35 and all materials will be provided. Preregister by calling 523-0068. Email nataliebrown628@gmail.com or visit, www.project308gallery.com.
