Home improvement contractor pleads guilty

Joseph Lloyd, 45, a Niagara Falls home improvement contractor, pleaded guilty Thursday before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to cheating three sets of home owners in Blasdell and Orchard Park a combined $17,900 they paid him in advance of work he never carried out. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty Jr. said Lloyd between July 21, 2014 and last Oct. 14 got the three victim couples to sign contracts and make full or partial payments for work he was supposed to do in their homes.

Lloyd pleaded guilty as charged to third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud. He faces a prison term of up to 7 years when he is sentenced May 19, Flaherty said.
