Gun threat defused in Concord

Concord residents were urged to stay in their homes late Thursday afternoon after a man answered the door of his house holding a handgun when Erie County Sheriff’s deputies arrived to check on reports of a traffic incident.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Scott Zylka said the incident, which unfolded about 4 p.m., “was peacefully resolved.” A section of Ridge Trail traffic that had been closed temporarily to traffic, near Sprague Brook County Park and Kissing Bridge ski resort, was reopened by about 4:30 p.m. Zylka said no charges were lodged against the man with the handgun, described only as about 50 years old. The investigation continues.
