Allegany-Limestone, Panama advance

Allegany-Limestone will play for its first girls sectional basketball championship since 2009. The Gators advanced to the title game with a 47-29 win over Chautauqua Lake in the Class C-1 semifinals.

Allegany-Limestone, the No. 1 seed, will face No. 2 Cleveland Hill after the Eagles defeated Tapestry, 53-45, in the other semifinal.

The title game will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Jamestown Community College.

The Gators have one of the top forwards in Western New York in senior Allison Forness, who is averaging 21.4 points a game with 238 rebounds on the season.

Meanwhile in Class D, defending sectional champion Panama advanced to the title game with a 60-38 win over Pine Valley. Senior guard Emilee Sperry leads Panama with 13.9 points per game. They will face the winner of Thursday’s semifinal between No. 2 Franklinville and No. 3 Ellicottville in Saturday’s championship. That game is set for 4 p.m. at Jamestown Community College.
