Where we live: Town of Tonawanda

Town of Tonawanda

The next Just Transition meeting of residents to help the town deal with the expected March 1 closure of the Huntley Station power plant will be held this week.

Clean Air Coalition joined with the WNY Labor Federation, Kenmore Teachers Association and residents in 2014 to formulate a plan to lobby state officials for funding to make up a loss of $6 million in revenue from Huntley. The Just Transition is also working on helping the employees laid off to receive job training.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the upper hall at Brounshidle American Legion Post 205, 3354 Delaware Ave. For more info on the Just Transition visit justtransition.com
