Thief targets car of Meals on Wheels volunteer

NIAGARA FALLS – A Meals on Wheels volunteer was victimized by a thief Friday morning while he loaded meals to deliver to shut-ins, police said.

The victim, a Pine Avenue resident, told police he parked outside St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on 18th Street at 10:50 a.m. and left his car running and unlocked while he collected the meals he was to deliver. While he was loading the food into his car moments later, he noticed that his briefcase was missing from the car.

Police said the briefcase contained personal papers and a Kindle Fire and the loss was placed at $250.
