Two teens charged with car break-ins in Ripley area

RIPLEY – A two-week investigation into overnight car break-ins in the Ripley area led to the arrests of two Sherman boys, ages 17 and 15, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

Starting with reports of a suspicious car seen in the Ripley area earlier this month, deputies traced that vehicle to a Sherman residence where they confronted the 17-year-old and the 15-year-old and recovered what were described as “multiple items that were reported stolen” from Ripley cars beginning about 1:45 a.m. Feb. 5.

The 17-year-old was issued appearance tickets for Ripley Town Court proceedings in several weeks. The 15-year-old faces Family Court proceedings, according to the sheriff’s office.
