Sabretooth and other sports lovers part of Science Museum's Fitfest on Saturday

Sabretooth will be among the sports enthusiasts on hand Saturday for the first Buffalo Museum of Science Family Fitfest.

The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,  will showcase the Science Studio, “Explore YOU,” and invite guests to break cabin fever with ways to get, and stay, in shape. HSBC Bank USA and Time Warner Cable are supporting Fitfest.

Visitors can try new sports and a Bootcamp-style skills course. Members of the West Side Rowing Club will talk about the club’s Learn to Row programs and measure energy output with an erg – a modern indoor rower. The Buffalo Speed Skating Club will display their skating gear and members will talk about the club’s all-ages programming.

Allied Sportsmen Archery will show off archery gear and its Junior Olympic Archery Development Program. Staff from Impact Sports Performance, the elite sports performance training facility at HarborCenter, will lead fitness training activities. And members of the Sabres Sled Hockey and University at Buffalo Quidditch teams will talk about those pursuits.

FitFest is part of the general price of admission to the museum, at 1020 Humboldt Parkway. For more information, call 896-5200 or visit www.sciencebuff.org.
