Frank S. Quaranta Jr., retired industrial technician

March 3, 1936 – Feb. 12, 2016

YOUNGSTOWN – Frank S. Quaranta Jr., of Youngstown, a retired industrial technician and school bus driver, died Feb. 12 after a lengthy illness. He was 79.

Born in Holley, he was a 1954 graduate of Niagara Falls High School, then served as a gun and ammunition specialist in the Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and at bases in France and Germany.

Mr. Quaranta went to work for Carbide Graphite in 1959, where he was quality control technician and a pollution control technician. After retiring in 1993, he was a school bus driver for the Lewiston-Porter Central School District for 10 years.

An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was a member of the 3 F Club (Fin, Feather and Fur) of Lewiston and S.C.O.P.E., and was an endowment member of the National Rifle Association. He also was a member of C.C. Kinney Post 1083, American Legion, in Lewiston, and the Sampson Air Force Base Veterans Association.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Kathleen L. Saad.

A funeral service with military honors will be arranged in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.
