The Sabres have suspended Evander Kane for Tuesday’s game (Harry Scull Jr./Buffalo News)

Red-hot Evander Kane scored his 16th goal of the season in Sunday's 4-1 win over Colorado, then hopped a private jet to Toronto to attend the NBA All-Star Game in Air Canada Centre.

The party apparently went too hard and too long into the night. Kane posted some videos on his Snapchat page -- which have since been deleted -- of some drinking escapades after the game and was not at Sabres practice today in First Niagara Center.

A grim coach Dan Bylsma announced the 24-year-old called the coach and General Manager Tim Murray this morning after presumably oversleeping. Bylsma said Kane's indiscretion will cost him, as he will not play in Tuesday's game at Ottawa.

(Monday evening update: WGR Radio, which has a reporter on the team plane, said Kane made the trip to Ottawa. Presumably, he will take the morning skate and endure post-practice punishments.)

"He slept in, called Tim and myself, broke a team rule," said a grim-faced Bylsma. "We'll be dealing with it internally but he will not be playing in Ottawa. I'm disappointed."

Bylsma said there was no issue with Kane attending the game. The winger, remember, attended baseball games in both Toronto and New York in October during both the American League and National League Championship Series. But he returned immediately to Buffalo after those games.

"We got out of here about 3:30," Bylsma said, referring to Sunday's matinee. "He could have made it to the game just fine and back."

Kane tweeted an Instagram picture attending the game with a younger sister.

Kane's 16 goals are one off the team lead, and he has five goals in the last six games. Famously run out of Winnipeg last February by teammates and media, this is the second time he has gone off the rails since arriving with the Sabres.

He is still involved in an investigation for an incident with a 20-year-old woman that allegedly took place early on the morning of Dec. 27 at the Marriott HarborCenter after the team returned on a flight from Boston. That case is awaiting resolution.
