A Buffalo man registered a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit after his car went off the road and struck a utility pole on Genesee Street in Alden, state police said.
Kenneth Mejak Jr., 54, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. State police said investigation determined his vehicle went off the road, struck a utility pole, attempted to re-enter the road, crossed the road and ended up in a ditch.
The odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mejak’s breath was strong, he had slurred speech and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, troopers said.
His blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit of 0.8 percent, police said. He is to appear in Alden Town Court at a later date.
