Ripley man facing drug and weapons charges

RIPLEY – A Ripley man faces weapons and drug charges after marijuana and a 12-guage shotgun were found in his home, authorities said Saturday.

Elmer Gorton, 54. was charged with marijuana possession and criminal possession of a weapon, and issued an appearance ticket for Town of Ripley court. Deputies said they also confirmed with the Erie County (Pa.) district attorney’s office that Gorton is a convicted felon.

About 8:30 p.m. Jan. 26, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance call at the Route 20 home, where they seized a small quantity of marijuana and the shotgun, authorities said.
