July 8, 1953 – Feb. 10, 2016
Mark E. Palascak, a partner and managing principal in the investment firm PKK Wealth Management, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home in East Aurora. He was 62.
Born in Buffalo, he grew up in Lancaster and was a 1970 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University at Buffalo.
A certified financial planner, Mr. Palascak began his career in 1974 as a teller with Erie County Savings Bank, which later became Empire of America. In the 1980s, he advanced to become division president of the Hudson Valley region, based in White Plains.
After the bank closed in 1991, he returned to live in East Aurora and joined Merrill Lynch as an investment adviser, becoming a vice president and manager of its Williamsville office. In 2009, he founded PKK Wealth Management in Buffalo with business partner Michael Kazinski.
He was a member of the Buffalo Club and served on the board of directors of Buffalo Niagara Sales & Marketing Executives. A longtime East Aurora resident, he was recalled by his family and friends as a booster of his town wherever he went.
“He truly felt it was just so peaceful and tranquil here,” said his partner, Carol Horton. “He really thought there was no better place to live.
“He believed in the whole Roycroft mantra – if you’re one with nature, you’re one with yourself,” she added.
Mr. Palascak was also a longtime supporter of St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy.
Besides his partner, he survived by two daughters, Lauren and Elizabeth; his mother, Marie; three brothers, Matthew, Gregory and Andrew; and two sisters, Donna Albert and Theresa Ehringer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Annunciation Catholic Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma.
