Strong police presence encourages safe driving
I was disappointed by the tone of the recent News article on the increase in traffic tickets issued by the Buffalo police. The article was a review of the premise that the increase in traffic tickets was a money grab by the City of Buffalo, based upon the city’s new ability to adjudicate traffic fines. Not mentioned in the article was the issue of public safety.
The fact is people will drive more safely if they believe a police officer could be up ahead ready to write a ticket. As an example, I offer the Village of Kenmore. Who doesn’t look at their speedometer when they cross Kenmore Avenue?
