Two injured in head-on collision in Ripley during severe weather

RIPLEY – A woman driver and a teenage boy who was a passenger in another car were taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital after a head-on crash in what the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office described as “blizzard-like conditions” at about 6:45 p.m. Friday on Route 76.

George Steadman, 51, of Ellington, was heading north on Route 76 when he lost control of his vehicle. His car slid into the opposite lane and crashed into the southbound car driven by Darlene Meeder, 57, of Ripley. Meeder and Tyler Boozel, 17, a passenger in Steadman’s car, were taken to the hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

No charges were filed as a result of the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.
