Cuban national gets 10-month prison term for credit card scheme

Jose Valdivia Quinones, 41, a Cuban national now living in Tampa, Fla., was ordered by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to serve 10 months in federal prison on his conviction for bank fraud linked to a credit card scheme he and five other Cuban nationals carried out in the Buffalo area.

The judge also ordered Quinones to pay $1,642 in restitution.

Assistant U.S.. Attorney Russell T. Ippolito Jr. said Quinones illegally obtained credit and debit card numbers of a number of local people and used them to make purchases Tops Markets in Hamburg and East Aurora. A federal grand jury in Buffalo indicted all six last March.
