Buffalo public school teacher pleads guilty to embezzling from PTO group

Patti Nabinger, 44, a technology teacher at Buffalo’s School 43, pleaded guilty Thursday to fourth-degree attempted grand larceny before Buffalo City Judge Joseph Fiorella for misappropriating $3,530.82 from the school’s Parent Teacher Organization while she was serving as its volunteer treasurer until last August.

Her scheme came to light when the group’s records were examined last summer. She was placed on administrative leave from her school post in September and has repaid the organization $3,000 so far. A Buffalo resident, Nabinger faces up to a one-year local jail term when she is sentenced April 1.
