Letter: Faith, miracles around us sustain our belief in God

Faith, miracles around us sustain our belief in God

I’d like to comment on the letter from an atheist who compared belief in the Easter bunny to belief in God, implying since one is a negative, so is the other.

Years ago, I took my 2-year-old granddaughter to see the Easter bunny. After a few minutes, she poked me and said, “Gram, look, the bunny is wearing sneakers!” She gave me the look. In other words, her belief in the Easter bunny was toast.

Twenty years later, our dean’s list college student still believes in God. Not only due to the gift of faith she received at her baptism, but also because of the miracles she has seen in her own life and those of family and friends.

Also, no one I know of in all of history has ever given his or her life as a martyr due to belief in the Easter bunny.
