LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who was a passenger in a vehicle in which police found an illegal handgun took a misdemeanor plea offer Wednesday in Niagara County Court.
Charles A. Jackson III, 18, of Whitney Avenue, admitted to second-degree obstructing governmental administration and was scheduled for sentencing April 6 by Judge Sara Sheldon. He could go to jail for as long as a year.
Another passenger, Taylor Kilmer, 20, of North Seventh Street, Lewiston, was given the same plea offer, but defense attorney David J. Mansour said he was going to try to get a better deal.
The driver and owner of the gun, Cody A. Rolfe, 33, of Mackenna Avenue, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty Friday to attempted second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and will be sentenced as a repeat felon to five years in state prison. The gun was found in a bag on the floor of Rolfe’s sport utility vehicle after Falls police stopped it for running a red light at Niagara Falls Boulevard and 80th Street.
