Man robs Elmwood Avenue bank, claiming he had bomb

A man who claimed to have a bomb robbed a First Niagara Bank branch at 2141 Elmwood Ave. of $1,130 Friday afternoon, Northwest District police reported.

The robber approached a teller about 3:50 p.m. and handed her a note reading, “I have a bomb. No dye packs, no GPS, no silent alarm. I want $10,000. If you cooperate, I will not detonate.”

The teller handed him a stack of bills of various denominations, and the robber fled on foot. He was described as clean-shaven, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 170 pounds, wearing a multicolored winter cap and a green winter coat.
