Wheatfield man avoids jail in DWI case

LOCKPORT – Stephen Klejdys of Wheatfield – who, according to the judge, refused a breath test by telling police, “Just shoot me, I’m not taking your test” – was sentenced Friday by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. to three years’ probation for a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

Klejdys, 38, of Graydon Drive, also must pay $930 in fines and fees. He was arrested Nov. 8 after police clocked him traveling 45 mph in a 30 mph zone and followed him from Main Street in North Tonawanda to the corner of Broad and William streets in the City of Tonawanda.

In another DWI case before Kloch, Richard G. Duplessis, 34, of Harwood Avenue, Wilson, pleaded not guilty to felony DWI, speeding and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. He was arrested Nov. 10 in the Town of Lockport.
