5 places kids eat free

It is not easy taking kids out to eat. It can be a not-so-fun experience, in fact. But, there are plenty of family-friendly places around that make kids feel at home. And depending on the night - little ones can even eat free at a few.

Here’s what I found.

Zebbs (2875 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst and 3349 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park)

Zebbs is a fun place to go as a family. Moms and dads can watch sports or listen to the music - and kids can hang out and not worry about being quiet.  All day Sunday they offer one free kid’s meal for age 10 and younger with purchase of an adult meal. Kid's meals are pretty standard: burger, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, mac n cheese or hot dog. Most days they'll run around $5, but on Sunday - nothing. A drink is not included but they do get fries or applesauce. The booths are super big and comfortable for the entire family. They'll usually put you at a table if you need a high chair.

Lebro’s Restaurant (330 Campbell Boulevard, Getzville)

Lebro's is a very kid-friendly restaurant.  And they've got great food. Right away, the little ones get crayons and paper to keep them busy. What's neat here is the children's menu is actually good stuff. Choose from spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, grilled cheese, even cheese ravioli. Most days the meals run $5.99, but Mondays after 4 p.m. they offer one free kid’s meal with each adult meal you buy. The meal includes a drink and ice cream - bonus.

The Grill @ The Dome (175 Brompton Road, Tonawanda)

The Grill is fun - especially if you want to play a game of mini golf or hit some balls in the dome. The kid's menu has some variety: mac n cheese, pulled pork, chicken wings or hot dogs. On Mondays from 4-9 p.m., they offer one free kid’s meal with each adult meal purchased. It is a fun place to go, but once the clock strikes 8 p.m. or so, it can get a bit loud since there is a bar in the eating area.

Moe’s Southwest Grill (2658 Delaware Ave., Kenmore)

If your kids like Mexican food, this is a nice idea for a change of pace. Moe's kid's menu is limited: hard of soft taco, burrito or cheese quesadilla. I know my 4-year-old loves quesadillas and would eat them every day if she had the choice. On Tuesday evenings ,you can get one free kid’s meal with purchase of an adult meal. The kid's meal comes with a cookie, drink and chips and salsa. It is totally kid friendly and quick service so you won't be waiting around for your order. That is always a good thing.

The Original Pancake House (2075 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst;  3091 Union Road, Orchard Park and 5479 Main St., Williamsville)

What kid doesn't like breakfast for dinner? The Original Pancake House is kid friendly and has pretty fast service for the most part. The bonus here - kids eat free every day after 4 p.m. You get one free kid's meal with each adult meal purchased. They can get bacon and eggs, pancakes, french toast or if they'd like dinner-dinner, they can get a grilled cheese. It comes with a small drink. Here they never seem to mind a messy kid. And you know how sticky that pancake syrup can be.
