Three charged after police find illegal gun

NIAGARA FALLS – Falls police officers responding to a call of an “unwanted party” were alerted there were three men in an attic with a gun.

Police entered the house in the 400 block of 23rd Street just after 8 p.m., announcing loudly they were coming in. One of the men called down from the attic that they were up there and all three men exited with their hands over their heads.

Tyquell J.L. Smith, 20, of the 23rd Street address, Julius Newton, 19, of 27th Street, and Jason M.Q, Johnson, 17, of Pierce Avenue were charged with felony criminal possession of a firearm and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police reported they found three guns and magazines, including a .22 rifle with the serial number scratched off, gun magazines and ammunition.
