Holy 1980s, Batman! Howard Jones and OMD are playing Artpark this summer. Along with some Canadian band with a name that suggests a burlesque show. What next?
According to publicists for Howard Jones, the British synth-pop icon will take part in the “Last Summer on Earth Tour,” a road jaunt which will find Jones paired with fellow synth-poppers Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark and Great White Northern nerd-pop geniuses Barenaked Ladies. If you came of age during the 1980s and early ‘90s, this nostalgic package has “high school reunion” written all over it. If you’re too young to have experienced ‘80s synth-pop and alt-pop the first time around, and you are a fan of 107.7 FM Alternative Buffalo, here’s a good place to find out where so much contemporary alternative music took its initial influence from.
The tour will make its way across North America throughout June and July, and will stop by Lewiston’s Artpark on June 14. No information on ticket on-sales and prices yet, but we’ll let you know.
