BATAVIA – The Genesee County Economic Development Center is considering entering into an agreement with the City of Batavia and the Batavia Development Corporation to assist with funding the Batavia Pathway to Prosperity initiative – a program designed to spur new development projects in the city’s downtown Brownfield Opportunity Area.
City leaders are scheduled to make a presentation about the program at the agency’s meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday at the MedTech Center across from Genesee Community College.
Additionally, the agency’s directors are expected to review an application to set a public hearing for Darien Lake Theme Park Resort’s 2016 Tourism Destination Project that includes a six-flume water slide and a new roller coaster train.
Darien Lake is seeking $189,200 in sales tax exemptions for the construction and equipping of the new rides and enhancements. The total capital investment for both park projects is approximately $2.8 million.
