San Fermin to make Buffalo debut at Mohawk Place

On-the-rise Brooklyn chamber-pop outfit San Fermin will make its Buffalo debut at 8 p.m. April 12 in Mohawk Place (47 E. Mohawk St.).

Named after the yearly Spanish festival, the indie collective is the musical brainchild of young composer/songwriter Ellis Ludwig-Leone and quickly became critical darlings following the release of its self-titled, 2013 debut album. Led by the success of the record's first single, the euphoric "Sonsick," the group landed sign-of-approval installments on NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" and the influential French website La Blogotheque's "Take Away Show" series.

San Fermin's sweeping orchestral arrangements and confident vocals draw comparisons to acts like Sufjan Stevens, Dirty Projectors, Beirut and Grizzly Bear. The band's sophomore follow up "Jackrabbit" was released last spring.

Tickets will be available to purchase on Feb. 5 for $13/$15 (box office, Ticketmaster)
