Grand Marshal at St. Pat’s Day parade will continue family tradition

Jennifer Letina is continuing a family tradition March 20 with her election as grand marshal at Buffalo’s 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Her mother, Helen Hannon Letina, currently secretary of the sponsoring United Irish American Association, was grand marshal in 2003, and her late uncle, Daniel F. Hannon III, was grand marshal in 1991. Her mother will be among her deputy marshals, along with her father, George Letina, her sisters, Michelle Goodspeed and Mary Lou Land, and her boyfriend, James House.

Letina, a member of the UIAA executive committee who has worked as a volunteer on the parade for many years, is a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy and St. Bonaventure University. She is the accounts payable supervisor for Ellicott Development and is a realtor with Metro Roberts.

The parade will be dedicated to the memory of James J. Speyer Sr., a past president of the UIAA executive committee and grand marshal of the 1989 parade. A former president of Local 261, Graphic Communications International Union, he died in 2014.
