The Seneca Diabetes Foundation will hold its 11th annual Chairman’s Ball on Friday at the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center in Niagara Falls. This year’s gala, presented by Seneca Gaming Corp. and Independent Health, starts at 6 p.m. and will feature an evening of food and entertainment based on the theme of “A Night in Old Havana.”
Dr. Teresa Quattrin, chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Women & Children’s Hospital and chief of the hospital’s Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes, will receive the Barry Sr. and Deanna Snyder Chairman’s Award for her leadership in the fight against diabetes.
Barry Snyder founded the foundation in 2005 to provide educational outreach and prevention awareness, and fund research to improve the lives of Seneca Nation members and others affected by diabetes. Through the Chairman’s Ball and other efforts, it has raised more than $1.5 million for the Seneca Diabetes Foundation Endowment at Women & Children’s, scholarships for Seneca students pursuing higher education in the health and human services fields, and other efforts.
